In the current era of AI’s deep integration into various industries, the interior design field is undergoing a quiet transformation. The Global AI Design Awards (AIDA) 2025, hosted by Homestyler, aims to drive design innovation through AI empowerment.

As a globally recognized professional competition, the AIDA Global AI Interior Design Competition, under the guidance of authoritative institutions such as Italian Industrial Design Association(ADI), Furniture & Decoration Industry Chamber of Commerce, China, Chinese Interior Decoration Association, has for the first time incorporated the application of AI design tools into its competition criteria. This not only positions it as a battleground for global design talent but also serves as an important window to observe the intelligent transformation of the home furnishings industry.

With algorithms capable of generating design proposals and data optimizing spatial layouts, the core value of designers is undergoing a significant shift. Will AI technology consume the creative essence of designers, or will it act as a catalyst for unleashing inspiration? Can traditional design challenges—such as the difficulty in realizing creative ideas and low communication efficiency—be addressed through technological tools? These questions highlight the evolving relationship between human creativity and AI-driven solutions in the design field.

The core value of this competition lies in helping designers re-understand their design responsibilities in the AI era—technology does not make design cold, but rather makes creativity more human-centered. Luciano Galimberti, President of ADI (Italian Industrial Design Association), emphasized that the widespread adoption of AI tools is compelling designers to return to the essence of “humanistic care,” freeing them from tedious technical tasks and allowing them to focus on emotional connections between space and people.

Sooshin Choi, Chair of the Industrial Design Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design, stated directly: “AIDA is a highly forward-looking competition. The momentum of AI is unstoppable; it not only changes design processes but also reshapes industry structures”.

Clemens Lindner, designer and AI researcher at Zaha Hadid Architects, noted: “The AIDA competition provides a unique platform for challenging traditional conventions. It is essential for promoting research and innovation. This competition will demonstrate how AI and design are collaboratively penetrating the interior design field”.

This year’s judging panel has set a record for international representation. Composed of experts such as Luciano Galimberti (President of ADI), Matteo Ingaramo (Chair of the Industrial Design Department at Politecnico di Milano), Sooshin Choi (Savannah College of Art and Design), Liang Jianguo (founder of Zhizao·Zhong), Stefano Paiocchi and Clemens Lindner (Designer and AI Researcher at Zaha Hadid Architects), the panel will evaluate design submissions based on three dimensions: Innovation, Functionality, and Aesthetics.

As the designated tool for the AIDA Global AI Interior Design Competition, Homestyler’s AI design platform has become a focal point of attention. Equipped with powerful features, it serves as a valuable assistant to participants and is transforming the industry ecosystem.

In terms of improving design efficiency, Homestyler’s AI design tools have brought revolutionary changes. Designers can input simple instructions such as space dimensions, style preferences, and functional requirements, and the platform quickly generates preliminary design proposals. With robust capabilities in automatic floor plan recognition and manual drawing, designers can freely sketch their ideas. The flexible multi-layer modeling engine supports both indoor and outdoor designs, offering diverse modeling functions to meet a wide range of design needs. This enables designers to complete tasks in a fraction of the time traditionally required—tasks that once took days or even weeks can now be done much faster, significantly enhancing productivity and allowing participants to focus more on creative thinking.

Beyond the competition, Homestyler’s strategic vision extends further. By leveraging AI tools, the platform is lowering industry barriers and fostering a new “Design for All” ecosystem. In this AI-driven design revolution, Homestyler is using its tools as leverage and competitions as connectors to redefine the boundaries and possibilities of interior design.
